About Us

We understand that financial decisions are rarely just financial. They are tied to family, work, caregiving, transitions, and the future you are trying to build. Our practice is built around practical planning, plain-English guidance, and support that meets you where you are.

Our Story

Hohenshell Financial began with a simple but powerful realization: many people are carrying far more stress around financial decisions than they should have to carry alone.

Early in Stephanie’s career, she sat with a woman who felt defeated about the future and unsure whether retirement would ever feel possible. That conversation became a turning point. Stephanie saw how much emotional weight can sit behind financial decisions and how meaningful it is when someone has the space, support, and guidance to move forward with greater clarity.

That experience continues to shape the way we work today. We believe financial planning should feel personal, understandable, and grounded in real life, especially for women navigating competing priorities, major life transitions, or decisions that may increasingly rest on their shoulders. At the same time, we serve individuals, couples, and families more broadly with that same focused, practical approach.

Meet Stephanie Hohenshell

Stephanie Hohenshell brings nearly two decades of experience in insurance and financial services to her work with clients at Hohenshell Financial. Based in Springfield and increasingly connected to Northwest Arkansas, she has built her practice around clear conversations, practical planning, and personal service that feels approachable.

A Missouri State University graduate, Stephanie holds the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) designation, which reflects advanced training in retirement income planning and the transition from saving for retirement to creating income from it. She also holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation, which focuses on fiduciary principles and a thoughtful process for helping evaluate investment decisions and responsibilities. She holds through LPL Financial the FINRA Series 7 and 66 registrations, along with the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) certification.

Stephanie's work often resonates with women who are navigating the financial realities that can come with longer life expectancy, caregiving responsibilities, career changes, divorce, widowhood, or planning for retirement on their own, while still serving individuals, couples, and families more broadly.

She is active in organizations that reflect her commitment to leadership, service, and community, including Junior League, Association for Women in Communications (AWC), Rosie, and Women of OZ in Northwest Arkansas. Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys travel, exploring the outdoors, mountain biking local trails in Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas, reading, fitness, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.

Stephanie is licensed to serve clients in Missouri, Arkansas, California, and Texas.

Our Commitment to You

We promise to communicate in plain English, avoiding industry jargon whenever possible. We are committed to transparency, straightforward fee structures, and building a professional relationship based on mutual trust and clear expectations.

Business Owners

Business ownership can bring personal and financial decisions together in complex ways.

Succession planning, retirement timing, a future sale, employee retirement plans, and tax considerations may all shape the bigger picture. We help organize those moving parts so planning feels more coordinated and easier to navigate.

Planning for Family Priorities

Family planning can pull priorities in many directions at once.

Saving for education, caring for parents, preparing for retirement, and thinking through how wealth may pass over time can all compete for attention. We help bring structure to those decisions so priorities feel clearer.

Navigating Transitions

Life rarely moves in a straight line.

Career changes, selling a business, divorce, or managing an inheritance all require decision-making during highly emotional times. We help you organize the variables and slow down the process so you can make choices you understand.

Retirement Planning

Retirement planning is not only about building assets over time.

It is also about thinking through income, spending, taxes, and family goals in the years ahead. We help connect those decisions so retirement planning feels more intentional and easier to evaluate.

Estate & Legacy Planning

Estate planning and financial planning are closely connected.

The way assets are titled, beneficiaries are named, and wishes are documented can all influence how a plan works over time. We help clients coordinate those conversations with the broader financial picture in mind.

Preparing Heirs

Preparing heirs is about more than passing down assets.

It can also mean helping the next generation understand responsibilities, decision-making, and potential tax considerations before wealth is transferred. We help families bring heirs into the planning process early so the transition feels more informed and intentional.

Survivor Planning

The loss of a spouse or partner can bring financial questions at the hardest possible time.

Accounts, bills, income, and next steps may suddenly feel overwhelming. We help clients plan ahead so a surviving loved one has more clarity, more organization, and a better understanding of what to do next.

Tax-Aware Planning

Taxes can influence retirement decisions, wealth transfers, business planning, and the timing of major moves.

We help clients think through tax-related planning considerations in context and coordinate with their tax professional when appropriate as part of the broader planning process.
